(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction- The Rolling Stonesmy idea of a sunday night in- sour cream 'n' onion ruffles, a long shot at jack daniel's and oprah on a giant screen.
today was so funny. haha.
jin li and i met up around dinnertime. we went to this restaurant called Friends and had finger food. the bowl of wedges had like 50 in them. plus we order chunky chunks too. that was our dinner.
then we played pool. we reminisce our old days of being the Pool Sisters. then we got sick of pool and went shopping. we bought dresses (HAHA). we're both gonna wear them someday, i know.
then we decided to visit Esplanade. we got on bus 36 hoping for the best. we got lost. but it's ok, we got home eventually.
you know you're really friends with somebody if she knows and you know and you burst out laughing at the same time over nothing watsoever.
it was a great sunday. :)
as for yesterday, i finished Catcher in the Rye. it was a fantastic book. initially i thought it was about some stupid loser named Holden Caulfield who's too bored of his blessed life and deems everything phony, but i realised that everyone of us is just like him. we all want to make a difference in people's lives somehow, but we have contrasting ideas as to what is significant and what isn't. sometimes, being a little fake and being nicer to somebody makes that difference. like telling white lies.
for example, rebels. we go against the common thoughts, we cause chaos to the people who bother to care about us and take pride in breaking all rules. what's the meaning in that? in truth, rebels are the greatest conformists. they want to be what others secretly desire to be. they want to possess the courage people secretly yearn to have. they crave to be admired in some way, be it by their peers or random strangers. they claim they aren't phonies, but they know deep down that they are just like everyone else. they want to be liked.
anyhow, i went to church after that. and then met up with daryl, martin and wei min. they were supposedly studying but, yea. i spent my evening at macdonald's. i should have gone to see joey's performance. too bad i missed it.
it was quite a meaningful weekend.
i can't get no, satisfaction
